  • Born in the Citadel district, Cairo, Egypt in 1897 and died in 1994
  • Studied in Al Azhar University and the National University (1917 – 1930)
  • His connection to calligraphy started at school
  • His talent in calligraphy was discovered by Sheikh Mustafa El Ghor, the calligraphy professor in Al Azhar University
  • Learned calligraphy from Sheikh Farag and Sheikh Abd El Hafez, Sheikh Mohamed Wahby, Sheikh Abd El Ghany Agour and Calligrapher Hussein Hosny from Turkey.
  • His literary talent was discovered by the Syrian Sheikh Kamal Eldin El Kawakgy the professor in Al-Azhar University

  • (Published 6 times and published in Pakistan and Iran.  It included all types of Arabic calligraphy writings)

  • Headings of most of the newspapers and magazines in Egypt and the Arab world (e.g. Al-Ahram, El Mesawer, El Balagh, El Helal, Al Lata’ef , Apollo, El Ekhwan El Muolemoon, Al Madinah Al Monawara, Al Bahreen, Al Haram)
  • Wrote many tombstones of celebrities (e.g. Leader Mohamed Farid, Prince of Poets Ahmed Shawky)
  • Wrote thousands of tablets, cards, advertisements, marble signs of building establishments in Egypt and abroad
  • Wrote tablets that were used to decorate Mohamed Ali Mosque, El Morsi Abou El Abbas Mosque and others.
  • Wrote several literary articles and poems that were published in Egyptian and Arabic newspapers and magazines

  • El Game’ a Mosque in India (the tablets included El Goma’a Surah, El Korsy verse and 20 tablets of big tholoth writing; all these were copied in El Hosary mosque in Cairo)
  • El Salam Mosque in Al-Haram (for his friend Sheikh Ali Hasaballah)
  • Shared in the writings of the mosque of his friend Sheikh of Arabs Ahmed Zaki Basha in Giza

   Honors
  • He was honored on Knowledge Day in 1979 as one of the leaders of Education in Egypt
  • Honored by Arts Academy in 1979
  • Chosen with Hajj Ahmed El Kamel chief calligrapher of Istanbul to write tablets of Manial Palace.  For him this was the greatest honor.
  • The Opera House honored him and held a special exhibition for his work in 1996
  • Alexandria Library honored him in 2004 and 2006
  • Egyptian Book Council administered a celebration to honor him in 2001
  • Arabic Calligraphy School in Belbies was named after him
  • Algeria honored him in the celebration on the occasion of its choice as the capital of culture in 2007
  • The International Committee of History, Art and Heritage in Istanbul named the International Competition of 2000 after him

 Sayed Ibrahim never cared about being honored because he felt that the real honor to any artist is the eternity of his work.
